A visit to Historic Christ Church & Museum will open doors to one of Virginia’s most important historic sites. Here, you can experience the breadth and depth of the eighteenth-century American story and celebrate the Northern Neck’s vibrant community life with concerts, festivals, and special events.
Historic Christ Church & Museum will add memorable moments for your guests, provide educational opportunities for a family vacation, and allow you to discover a new favorite museum shop. Local and regional residents unfamiliar with the Museum discover this “hidden historical jewel” while enjoying diverse programs and events for adults and kids alike.
We are continually improving and enriching our programs and events. The theme for the HCC&M 2017 Sunday Lecture Series is “Virginia Gardens: Past & Present.” This four-part series featured acclaimed writers and historians who shared their stories with gardening and history enthusiasts. A fall crawl is planned — details to come. The “Bringing Music to Life” concert series is back for 2017, featuring nationally and internationally renowned artists using the superb acoustics of the landmark 1735 church.
An integral part of the community, Historic Christ Church & Museum offers regular family-friendly events including the Scottish celebration Kirking of the Tartan, a stirring Memorial Day service, and a winter holiday carol sing. The ever-popular Craft Beer Fest draws crowds to sample craft beers, local wines, BBQ, and homemade ice cream to the accompaniment of sensational live music.
Kids love our Hands-On History program, when they make bricks, do archaeology, take grave rubbings, and play colonial games. And families enjoy our lce Cream Social.
With education as the cornerstone of our mission, school programs are available to students at all levels, from K–12 to collegiate. Younger kids enjoy hands-on activities while learning about colonial history and families flock to our summer Ice Cream Social. There is truly something for everyone at Historic Christ Church & Museum.
